Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights

The International Centre for Human Sciences – UNESCO, Byblos in partnership with Hanns Seidel Foundation, has organized on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, informative and training sessions about “Key to Continued Success for Women: Lifelong Learning” and “Parents and Social Media” and a panel discussion on “Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”

Cultural and academic exchange project

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the International Center for Human Sciences – UNESCO Byblos (CISH) and the Lebanese American University (LAU), 25 students of various nationalities who follow the cultural exchange program between LAU and several universities around the world (ESSCA-Sciences PO, DJMX …) and from various specializations, visited CISH on Thursday January 26 2020, to familiarize themselves with the center, its activities and the possibility of future academic cooperation.

International Mother Language day

The International Center for Human Sciences was pleased to participate in the International Mother Language day Roundtable Discussion organized by SINARC in LAU Beirut on the 21st of February 2020.
Topics such as the question of modern standard arabic and Levantine dialect, mother tongue for bilingual people, expatriates and languages and the effects of Migration on the Mother tongue were all discussed.
CISH director Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid has opened the event and stressed on the importance of promoting multilingual education in children and young people, reminding that UNESCO recognized February 21 in a resolution as International Mother Language Day and that it is our duty to preserve our mother tongue and transmit it to our children. She concluded by repeating with the UN “when languages fade, so does the world’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity (…) Traditions, memory”.

The phoenix rises once again
