On October 23, 2020, the International Center for Human Sciences represented by its Director, Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, participated in a Webinar organized by the Silk Road Programme Section at UNESCO Paris in collaboration with the UNESCO office in China and the municipality of Nanjing, entitled “Process of Peace Building through Historical Approach”.
The Webinar was moderated by Mr. John Crowley (UNESCO, Paris), and speakers from India, Kyrgyzstan, United Kingdom, and Lebanon all showcased a successful peacebuilding process in regional and international conflicts.
Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid chose to discuss the case of Lebanon and Israel negotiations and mediations to demarcate their maritime borders.
The International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) – UNESCO, Byblos received today a delegation from the Orient Institut Beirut (OIB) presided by Professor Birgit Schäbler – Director of the OIB.
Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid – Director of the CISH, discussed with the delegation the ways of collaboration between the two parties especially in the field of research and studies.
On September 22, the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) – UNESCO, Byblos
Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Armenian General Benevolent Union Lebanon (AGBU Lebanon) at the CISH premises, to promote joint collaboration and establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on cooperation.
Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, director of the CISH and Mr. Gerard Tufenkjian, the President of AGBU Lebanon, signed this MoU in the presence of H.E. Mr. Vahagn Atabekyan, Armenian Ambassador in Lebanon. The MoU aims to cooperate in activities including workshops, training programs, projects, and conferences. Moreover, this partnership will provide the opportunity of exchanging publications, academic information, and research material. This collaboration is mutually beneficial for both parties regarding studies and research in human and social sciences.
On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH)- UNESCO, Byblos, organized on September 21 and 22, 2020, an “Intercultural seminar on Peacebuilding, Dialogue and Solidarity” in partnership with
Foundation (HSF) and in collaboration with the Armenian General Benevolent Union
The seminar was launched in the presence of the ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, H. E. Mr. Vahagn Atabékian along with a delegation from the Armenian embassy in Lebanon.
In this seminar’s mission of promoting peace and dialogue in a divided Lebanese society, a series of panels were launched to work on the youth psychosocial wellbeing and the effective tools to build effective peacebuilding, dialogue, and solidarity with the participation of academic and cultural figures and lecturers from various universities in Lebanon and France.
The seminar was concluded with a Musical play from Armenian folklore on the occasion of the Armenian independence day.

Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, director of the CISH and Colonel Nassif Obeid, the President of Generations Bridges signed this MoU to promote joint collaboration and establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on cooperation.
استضاف اليوم المركز الدولي لعلوم الانسان اليونيسكو بيبلوس الدكتور حامد الهمامي المدير الإقليمي لمكتب اليونسكو بيروت وممثل لبنان وسوريا ترافقه الدكتورة سايكو سوجيتا اخصائية البرامج في الاونيسكو في بيروت. وقد جال د. الهمامي و د. سايكو في المركز واجتمعا مع مديرة المركز الدكتورة دارينا صليبا ابي شديد التي اطلعتهما على روزنامة نشاطات المركز بالاضافة الىى ما تم انجازه حتى الآن ، كما تمّ ترسيخ اجواء التعاون المتبادل في ضوء الأزمات التي يعيشها لبنان .
On September 15, 2020, the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) welcomed the first year students’ officers of Lebanese military academy in a touristic and cultural visit as part of their educational program. Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid welcomed the officers at the Center and the visit was completed with a guided tour in the historical Byblos Citadel. In recognition of her continuous efforts, the Commander of the military Academy Georges Hayek offered the Director a letter of recognition and appreciation on behalf of the Lebanese army Commander Joseph Aoun.
The International Center for Human Sciences – UNESCO, Byblos organized on Monday August 17, 2020 a roundtable and debate entitled “ The Lebanon of tomorrow viewed by the Lebanese youth ” with the presence and participation of Mr. Gwendal Rouillard, Deputy of Lorient, member of the defense and armed forces commission in the Parliament of French Republic. Mr. Rouillard highlighted on the significant role of the Lebanese youth to make an impact and lead a constructive change for a better Lebanon, and affirmed the continuous support of the French Republic to Lebanon and to the Lebanese youth.
Under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Minister of culture and agriculture, Mr. Abbas Mortada, and in accordance with the academic programs at the Military School, the International Center for Human Sciences – UNESCO, Byblos launched on Tuesday July 14, 2020 its cultural and educational program for the Military Academy officers for the second year in a row in the presence of the Qaimaqam, Mrs. Natalie Merhi, the Mayor of Jbeil, Mr. Wissam Zaarour and the head of the Army Intelligence Office in Jbeil Colonel Charles Nohra.
The International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) – UNESCO in Byblos celebrated the world music day on Sunday June 21, 2020. With her magical voice, Christine Abou Zeid performed at the CISH premises, a monumental building on the Phoenician wall in the old city, accompanying the people walking and passing by the Byblos street.
