Why the war? and for which peace?

The International Center for Human Sciences, in cooperation with the Arab Philosophical Union, and under the patronage of the ministry of culture, organizes an international symposium entitled “Why thr war?” Academicians, university professors and specialists from various humanities sciences from France , Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Algeria and Lebanon will participate in the symposium, which will take place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 December 2016 at the headquarters of the center in Byblos.

International conference entitled “The role of teaching languages And Human Sciences in addressing radicalism”

On 9 and 10 December, 2016 an international conference entitled “The role of teaching languages And Human Sciences in addressing radicalism ” was held in Tunisia in which the International Centre for Human Sciences represented by the Head of Citizenship Formation Department Ms. ZeinaEl-Mir participated with a working paper entitled:” Human and social sciences in fighting to reject extremism”. Multi-Confessionnel Societies in the Middle East

Following the two previous international conferences (composite societies and conquering societies in the Middle East, 2014; Multilingual societies in the Middle East, 2015), the International Centre for Human Sciences – Byblos, in partnership with the College de France (Paris) , l’École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris) and l’Université de Paris-Est (Créteil), completes the trilogy with a third international conference on the 7th , 8th and 9th September 2016 under the title of “multi-confessionnel societies in the Middle East “.

Writing human rights reports

The Department of Citizenship in the “International Center of Human Sciences” held from the 14th till the 21st of August 2016, at its headquarters in Byblos, a training workshop on “the rules of writing reports on human rights” over three stages, involving 10 beneficiaries from Lebanon and Iraq. Dr. Mustafa el-Hilweh shared with the participants his experience in writing summaries and final reports, and provided them with documentation. The head of the department Zeina el Mir stressed on the importance of exposing periodic reports, according to the operating mode of the committees and international institutions. Finally, certificates were distributed to participants.

The Board approved the action strategy of the ICHS

The board of the International Center of Human Sciences concluded its annual meetings held at the center, on the 15thand 16th of July 2016, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture RaymonAreygi.

“Educational innovation and contemporary transformations “

At the invitation of the General Secretariat of the Ecumenical project on Popular Education – Regional Office, the International Centre for Human Sciences, represented by the head the citizenship formation department MsZeina Mir, participated in the first Arabic meeting on the theme: “educational innovation and contemporary transformations” in the Arab Republic of Egypt (Cairo) from 3 to 10 May 2016.
