The Lebanese military academy in a touristic and cultural visit | 15.09.2020
On September 15, 2020, the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) welcomed the first year students’ officers of Lebanese military academy in a touristic and cultural visit as part of their educational program. Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid welcomed the officers at the Center and the visit was completed with a guided tour in the historical Byblos Citadel. In recognition of her continuous efforts, the Commander of the military Academy Georges Hayek offered the Director a letter of recognition and appreciation on behalf of the Lebanese army Commander Joseph Aoun.

Cultural and academic exchange project | 26.02.2020
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the International Center for Human Sciences - UNESCO Byblos (CISH) and the Lebanese American University (LAU), 25 students of various nationalities who follow the cultural exchange program between LAU and several universities around the world (ESSCA-Sciences PO, DJMX ...) and from various specializations, visited CISH on Thursday January 26 2020, to familiarize themselves with the center, its activities and the possibility of future academic cooperation.

International Mother Language day | 21.02.2020
The International Center for Human Sciences was pleased to participate in the International Mother Language day Roundtable Discussion organized by SINARC in LAU Beirut on the 21st of February 2020. Topics such as the question of modern standard arabic and Levantine dialect, mother tongue for bilingual people, expatriates and languages and the effects of Migration on the Mother tongue were all discussed. CISH director Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid has opened the event and stressed on the importance of promoting multilingual education in children and young people, reminding that UNESCO recognized February 21 in a resolution as International Mother Language Day and that it is our duty to preserve our mother tongue and transmit it to our children. She concluded by repeating with the UN “when languages fade, so does the world’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity (...) Traditions, memory”.

Sultan Qaboos Prize for Culture, Arts and Literature | 11.09.2019
On September 11, the Director of the International Center for Human Sciences Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid attended the launching ceremony of the Sultan Qaboos Prize for Culture, Arts and Literature at its eighth session of 2019 under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Minister of Culture Dr. Mohamed Daoud, and the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Lebanon Bader Bin Mohamed Bin Bader Al Munzeri, in Bristol Hotel, Hamra.

International exchange students from various universities from all over the world | 27.08.2019
In the framework of its educational and cultural cooperation with the Lebanese American University (LAU), the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) had the pleasure of welcoming international exchange students from various universities from all over the world such as : Science Po Paris, ESSCA and NEOMA from France, University of FREIE of Berlin, AARHUS, DMJX-AA and DMJX-CPH of Denmark, Université Grenoble Alpes, IVLM and University of Pavia of Italy, New York University, Sodertorn- Sweden and Vilnius University- Lithuania. The students took a tour inside the Center, discovered its programs and activities, and captured memorial photos before continuing their journey to another Lebanese city.

Brazilian Embassy visit to CISH | 25.07.2019
On 25 July 2019, the Director of the International Center for Human Sciences, Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, welcomed the Head of the Cultural Department in the Brazilian Embassy in Lebanon Mr. Thiago Antonio De Melo Oliveira and Administrative assistant Mrs. Rima Saade. CISH and the Brazilian Embassy are happy to collaborate and work together on Intercultural activities and on enhancing dialogue between different cultures.

Hosting the Council for the Development of Social Sciences Research in Africa and the Arab Council for Social Sciences | 04.07.2019
On Thursday July 4 2019, the International Center for Human Sciences, Byblos, hosted the Council for the Development of Social Sciences Research in Africa and the Arab Council for Social Sciences, represented by colleagues from Kenya, Morocco, Jordan and Lebanon. The program included a guided tour in the historical Byblos Citadel, and a visit to Byblos Old Souk. It was then followed by a dinner in one of Byblos Port restaurants where future collaboration between CISH, CODESRIA and ACSS was discussed

Hosting a group of students in international studies from Virginia | 10.06.2019
On Monday June 10, with the purpose of encouraging youth to write and publish, the CISH hosted a group of students specializing in international studies coming from the College of Humanities and Sciences in Virginia Commonwealth University in the USA who started a research work around global citizenship, humanism, tolerance and ethical response to catastrophism. Their work will be published in the CISH publications.

Hosting a group of students in international studies from Virginia | 22.05.2019
On Wednesday May 22, we were glad to host students from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the USA coming from different educational backgrounds. The delegation was composed of nine students and their professor Dr. Mayda Topoishian and Ms. Micheline Saade from the Lebanese American University (LAU). They were guests in our historic building during the month of June and they worked on research projects for two days to study and contribute to the mission and vision of CISH.

Saint Catherine of Hombourg (Hombourg-Haut France) in religious tourism in the city of Byblos | 10.05.2019
The International Center for Human Sciences was delighted to receive today a group of French citizens from the parish community of Saint Catherine of Hombourg (Hombourg-Haut France) in religious tourism in the city of Byblos, accompanied by Reverend Father Samih Raad. Combining religious tourism with archaeological tourism, Dr. Darina Saliba ABI Chedid showed the Center and told them about its history and role, and the significance of its location in one of the oldest cities in the world.

A restricted Meeting in Maçäo, Portugal with CISPH & CISH | 07.03.2019
On March 7, 2019, UNESCO and the International Council for Philosophy & Human Sciences (CIPSH) organized in Maçäo, Portugal, a restricted one-day meeting of selected guests during which a brainstorming open debate took place, building from the outcome document of the World Humanities Conference taking place in Liège, Belgium in 2017. Among the 20 participants from around the world, CISH Byblos represented by its Director, Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, participated as the only Center from the Middle East and the Arab region. At the end of the meeting, all participants drafted a Declaration.
