Annual Board of Directors Meeting

The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) – UNESCO, Byblos was exceptional this year with a unique precedent, as it was held on April 4, for the first time since its establishment in the French capital, Paris, and at the headquarters of UNESCO.
The meeting was held with the participation of the Board of Directors as a whole, chaired by His Excellency the Lebanese Minister of Culture, Judge Muhammad Wissam Al-Murtada, and all members, and under the distinguished patronage of the Director of the Organization, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, represented by Ms. Angela Melo, Director of Social Inclusion and Youth in the Humanities and Social Sciences Sector, and in the presence of the Ambassador of Lebanon to UNESCO, Ms. Sahar Baasiri.
During the meeting, the budget was presented and approved, as the existing alignment between the center’s activities and the center’s strategy was discussed.
The results of the Center’s evaluation report were presented by a specialized team appointed by UNESCO, which strongly recommended the necessity and importance of renewing the mandate of the Center knowing its pioneering role in Lebanon and the region.
The Director of the center, Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, presented all the achievements, programs, publications and conferences that distinguished the center throughout the past period showcasing how to overcome Economic difficulties, with a team that mostly volunteers, so that the center would launch into the world of achievements, demonstrating willpower, determination, and their ability to innovate at a time when the nation’s institutions are living a “struggle of survival.”
All attendees praised the successes, as all
topics were approved, and the attendees insisted on renewing the contract between the Lebanese state, UNESCO and the International Center for Human Sciences.
An intervention by His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Judge Muhammad Murtada, was made on the main role of the center and the Ministry’s keeping pace with all activities.
His Excellency the Minister had a recommendation to change the classification o the center to the first category in appreciation of its achievements.
The director of CISH also presented the Humanity Creativity Award to Mrs. Gabriela Ramos – Assistant Director General for Social and Human Sciences
