“Justice and Ethics: Leadership Beyond Command and Control” Training
The International Center for Human Sciences (CISH) – UNESCO, Byblos organized in partnership with Hanns Seidel Stiftung, a two days training on April 5-6, 2022 intended to the Lebanese Army Academy Officers of the Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and staff on “Justice and Ethics: Leadership Beyond Command and Control”.
The training aimed at introducing the key concepts of teaching military ethics, moral disengagement, targeting and the doctrine of double-effect.
In the opening ceremony, CISH director – Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid and the Hanns Seidel Stiftung resident representative – Mr. Kristof Duwaerts highlighted the importance and necessity of this training program. At his turn, General Hassan Jouni – Commander of the Fouad Chehab Academy of Command and General Staff thanked the director for this initiative and addressed a speech to the officers in which he highlighted on the need to understand moral and ethical leadership beyond the inherited myths and modalities of command and control.
The program included presentations and interactive workshops by prominent speakers: Dr. Ted Van Baarda – Executive director of the International Society for Military Ethics in Europe, Dr. Cendrella Mjaes, General Hady El Khoury, and Mr. Frederico Assoreira ALMENDRA, a session for civilian on Innovative Thinking and Leadership Among Youth with Ms. Balkis Chaabane, Ms. Zainab Al Ramlawi and Ms. Claudine Zaarour, as well as a guided tour in the historical Byblos Citadel.
At the end of the two-days training, the Commander of the Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and General staff, General Hassan Jouni with the CISH director – Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid distributed the certificates of completion. At her turn, Dr. Saliba Abi Chedid presented an appreciation letter to General Jouni, and donated a collection of CISH publications to the Library of the Command Academy.
نظّم المركز الدولي لعلوم الإنسان اليونسكو بيبلوس بالتعاون مع مؤسسة هانز سايدل، برنامجاً تدريبياً لضباط كلية فؤاد شهاب للقيادة والأركان بعنوان “العدالة والأخلاق: الجانب الآخر للقيادة والسيطرة” وذلك في ٥-٦ نيسان ٢٠٢٢.
واستُهلّ البرنامج بجلسة افتتاحية تكلّم خلالها كلّ من د. دارينا صاليبا ابي شديد – مديرة المركز والسيد كريستوف ديوارتس – الممثل الإقليمي لمؤسسة هانس سايدل فشدّدا على أهمية هذا البرنامح التدريبي .
بدوره، شكر قائد كلية فؤاد شهاب للقيادة والأركان، العميد الركن حسن جوني د. دارينا صليبا أبي شديد، ووجّه كلمةً إلى الضباط سلّط فيها الضوء على ضرورة فهم القيادة المعنوية والأخلاقية بعيداً عن طرائق القيادة والسيطرة.
ويهدف المركز من خلال هذا التدريب إلى التعريف بالمفاهيم الأساسية لتدريس الأخلاق العسكرية، وفك الارتباط الأخلاقي، بالإضافة الى فهم الاستهداف وعقيدة التأثير المزدوج.
وقد تضمّن البرنامج محاضرات واعمال تطبيقية ومناقشات مع مدرّبين وخبراء بارزين: الدكتور تيد فان باردا – المدير التفيذي للجمعية الدولية للأخلاقيات العسكرية في أوروبا، السيدة سندريلا مجاعس، والجنرال هادي الخوري، والسيد فريديريكو أسرويرا المندرا. كما نُظّمت جلسة للمدنيين حول التفكير والقيادة المبدعين بين الشباب مع السيدة بلقيس شعبان والسيدة زينب الرملاوي والسيدة كلودين زعرور، وجولة سياحية في قلعة بيبلوس التاريخية. واختُتم النشاط بتوزيع شهادات المشاركة على الضباط، وبدورها قدّمت د. دارينا صليبا أبي شديد رسالة شكر وتقدير لقائد كلية فؤاد شهاب للقيادة والأركان العميد الركن حسن جوني كما قدّمت عدداً من منشورات المركز لمكتبة الكليّة.
