Under the High Patronage of S.E. the Minister of Culture Judge Mohamad Wissam El-Mortada, the Byblos International Center for Human Sciences under the auspices of UNESCO co-organized the Day of Sound at Byblos/Jbeil as part of the La Deuxi Second edition of the Week of the UNESCO sound from 4 to 10 April 2022 in Beirut-Lebanon initiated by the Permanent Delegation of Lebanon to UNESCO, in partnership with the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO, Beirut & Beyond, the Higher School of Affairs (ESA), the Un American iversity of Beirut (AUB) – the Neighborhood Initiative, Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) – Institute of Scenic Studies of Audiovisual and Cinematography (IESAV).
The Day of Sound at Byblos/Jbeil was held on Saturday 9 April 2022 at Byblos at the UNESCO International Centre for Human Sciences, in the presence of Director General of Antiques, Architect Sarkis Khoury, representing Son Exc Oppose the Minister of Culture, Judge Mohamad Wissam El-Mortada, representative of the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO, the National Coordinator of the networks of associated schools and clubs for UNESCO and ALECSO Ms. Christiane Jeitani, of M. Christian Hugonnet, President and Founder of the Association la Semaine du Son – France, Dr Pierre Anhoury, Public Health Doctor and former Director General of the Audition Foundation, Dr Najwa Bassil Pieton, and Dr Mouna Reslan, member The Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO and present from an audience of all ages and professions.
Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid-Director of the International Centre for Human Sciences, gave an opening speech in which she stressed the role the Centre plays in Human Development through its relationship with others and its environment responding to the UNESCO call (our organization) mother) to commit to building sustainable societies, It is about bringing human beings to realize the importance of sound for their personal balance in their relationship with others and the world in all dimensions.
Following up on Mr. speech. Christian Hugonnet, President and Founder of the Association la Semaine du Son – France and the speech of the representative of the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO Ms. Christiane Jeitani, and the speech of His Excellency the Minister of the Cu lture represented by the Director General of Antiquities, Architect Sarkis Khoury.
Next up Mr. Christian Hugonnet and Dr Pierre Anhoury hosted a Conference titled “The pleasure of hearing; what will you hear tomorrow? Understanding and dealing with hearing impairments.”
The conference was followed by the musical intervention of the famous artist Mr. Nasser Makhoul who unveils the image of Lebanon through traditional musical instruments, made by himself, and designed to the following villages: Saida, Nabatieh, Baakbeck, Les Cedres, Byblos, Beirut. M. Makhoul, who has received several awards, travelled through 40 countries, introducing the musical heritage of Lebanon, for having gathered, reproduced and manufactured in his workshop, drum and string instruments dating from 3,000 before J. -C. in the 17th century.
The day ended with a walk exploring the historical site of Byblos, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List open for free thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture – General Directorate of Antiquities. This walk “Let’s make the Byblos vestry talk” was organized by the Beirut & Beyond association, which installed sound equipment that tells the story of the Byblos site, and in the company of tour guide Yazid Mahfouz.

Saturday, April 9, 2022 was the day of sound in Biblos at the International Center for Human Sciences, Piblos sponsored by UNESCO, in the presence of the Director General of Architects Engineer Sarkis Khouri, Honorable Representative of Minister of Culture, Judge Muhammad Wusam Al-Murtada, and the representative of the Lebanese National Committee for UNESCO coordinating the homeland To the network of related schools and UNESCO clubs and alxos Mrs. Christian Jaitani, and the professor Christian Hogonier, founder and president of the Voice Week Association in France, Dr. Pyar Anhouri, public health specialist, former director of the Hearing Foundation, Dr. Najwa Basil Bayaton, Dr. Mona Russellan, member of the Lebanese National Committee for UNESCO and in the presence of a public of all uncles R and the diverse profession.
Director of the International Center for Human Sciences Dr. Darina Saliba Abi has given an intense opening speech through which the Center plays in the development of human beings through its relationship with others and in an environment that cites the importance of voice for personal balance and the Center’s response to basic titles Promoted by the Mother Organization “UNESCO”. The three words of Mr. Christian Hogonier, founder and president of the Sound Week Association in France and the word of the Lebanese National Committee for UNESCO represented by Mrs. Christian Jaitani and the speech of his excellency Minister of Culture, represented by the Director General of Architects, Engineer Sarkis Khuri.
And then the interactive lecture titled “The pleasure of hearing what will you hear tomorrow? Understanding and Treatment of Hearing Damage” with Dr. Pyar Anhouri and Mr. Christian Hogonie.
Followed by the musical performance “Lebanon through traditional musical instruments” by artist and poet Nasser Makhoul to highlight the image of Lebanon through traditional musical instruments he made himself especially in the following areas: Saida, Al-Nabatia, Balbek, Rice, Jbeil and Beirut. The artist traveled to 40 countries to define musical heritage in Lebanon and was honored and given many awards, to collect, reproduce and manufacture in his workshop of musical instruments and a range of 3000 years BC and until the seventeenth century.
And at the end, the participants and the company of the tourist guide Mr. Yazid Mahfouz took a tour of the historical monuments in Jbeil Castle, recorded on the UNESCO World Heritage List, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Architecture, and the invitation of the Beirut and Beyond Association which has put together preparation T sound knows the visitors
