Reconsidering the human sciences: theories, methods and production of knowledge

On 18, 19 and 20 May, in collaboration with the International Center for Human Sciences (ICHS), Unesco organized an Arab regional conference entitled “Reconsidering the human sciences: theories, methods and production of knowledge” , under the patronage of  Minister of Culture Dr. Ghattas Khoury,  and in partnership with the” Arab Council of Social Sciences” and the” International Center for Philosophy and Humanistic  Studies”. This conference, held at the ICHS headquarter s in Jbeil, brought together some fifty Arab social scientists, professors and representatives of national and regional academic associations from 14 Arab countries: Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Oman, Algeria, Morocco, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Sudan and Yemen, working in various fields of human sciences related to Man and society, such as: philosophy, sociology, law, political science, literature, history, human rights, anthropology, the arts and the media.

The aim of this conference was to gather the opinions of the Arab intellectuals and their suggestions for revalorizing and activating the human sciences and to submit them to the international conference to be held in Liège, Belgium, between 6 and 12 August in the presence of 1500 participants from all over the world
